Aon Benfield using FAConnect platform to offer clients access to as much as $50 million in Chilean earthquake coverage for any one risk through Ascot Underwriting under an exclusive agreement. The facility can be used to reinstate exhausted coverage or provide a new policy for Chilean exposures. It is not restrictive to occupancy or class of business, and it allows for primary, excess of loss, or proportional cover. No minimum premium. >> Aon Benfield names Michael Bungert and Dominic Christian as co-CEOs. Bungert was with Aon Re, and Christian was with Benfield. >> Andrew Appel, who was CEO of Aon Benfield, moves to newly created role as COO of Aon Corp. >> Aon Global Insurance Managers, the captive management unit, has opened its Group Captive Solutions Practice to provide risk financing alternatives to Aon clients in the middle market, in collaboration with Zurich N.A., to issue policies, adjudicate claims and buy reinsurance from a virtual captive with a segregated portfolio company, eliminating traditional capital contributions often associated with group captives. Steve Bankes will lead the practice.

Michael Kuhn named president of brokerage units.

Buys Las Vegas-based Kapp Insurance Agency, which does business as Portal of Nevada. It is a full-service employee benefits consulting firm and will join Portal Insurance Agency, which is owned by Ascension and headquartered in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Launches initiative to attract women to and advance them in the firm. Program includes mentoring, education symposia, and social events on behalf of local women’s charities and nonprofits.

Roy Bridges promoted to regional president responsible for most of retail operations in the western U.S. He will continue to oversee certain offices in the South. >> Linda Downs elected as company senior EVP. She will oversee certain retail operations in the mid-Atlantic, Midwest and South. She will also keep responsibility for Halcyon Underwriters, Corporate Benefits and Company Leadership Schools.

Dave Obenauer promoted to president of Crump’s p-c division. He will retain CFO duties until his successor is found. >> Phil Eisenmann moves from EVP in the life insurance division to become EVP and chief sales officer in the p-c unit. >> John Jennings has left the firm.
