Aon Risk Solutions hires Michael Barbarita as managing director and SVP of Pittsburgh office. He moves from Marsh USA, where he led the Pittsburgh office and was East partnership leader. >> Affinity Healthcare professional liability programs for healthcare industry now open to brokers nationwide. >> Steve McGill promoted to Aon group president based in London. He will retain position as chairman and CEO of Aon Risk Solutions but will now also oversee firm’s overall growth strategy. He will continue reporting to Aon president and CEO Greg Case.

Acquires Broker Benefit Services of Chesterfield, Mo., specializing in group health and welfare, executive benefits and wellness plans. Corey Durbin, John Byrne and associates continue in current location under direction of William Ziebell, North Central regional EVP of Gallagher’s employee benefit unit. >> Also acquires Grossman & Assoc. in Beachwood, Ohio. The employee benefits brokerage offers group health, welfare and wellness plans and specializes in educational institutions, public entities, nonprofits, and professional services firms. Ned Grossman and colleagues continue at current location under direction of William Ziebell. >> Three appointed as corporate VPs: Eric Dean, Jerome Hanner, Cara Richardson.

Enters into network access agreement with United Concordia Dental to expand preferred provider organization network, combining United Concordia’s Advantage Plus network with Assurant’s Dental Health Alliance. The larger, combined network is marketed as United Concordia Alliance Network.

Rolls out new fee-disclosure format to increase transparency to plan sponsors of defined contribution plans. Receives Dalbar’s seal of approval on form, which will help plan sponsors better understand and compare fees and services and meet their fiduciary duties to plan participants under the law.

Stacy Stevens joins as SVP for national complex commercial p-c programs. She is based in Woodland Hills, Calif. She was with Lowe Enterprises, where she was SVP managing placement of insurance programs and loss control for hotels, resorts and commercial locations.

Names Dwight Newman as director of marketing with primary responsibility for commercial lines.

Offers new pest control program with Argonaut Insurance for residential and commercial operators in 14 states initially. Package product with general liability, auto, workers compensation and excess liability available. Program administered from Atlanta.

Linda Downs promoted to COO. Charles Lydecker promoted to newly created role of retail president, the firm’s largest division. Both were regional presidents and continue to report to J. Powell Brown, who cites the promotions as part of the brokerage’s “2B” goal—the attainment of $2 billion in annual revenue.

Legacy Crump p-c brokerage re-branded under CRC | Crump name. Does not affect CRC or legacy Crump p-c program divisions. Southern Cross Underwriters, Tapco Underwriters, 5Star Specialty Programs, Haleigh Negley & Assoc., and Target Insurance Services continue under their own names. No office locations are being combined at this time.

President Carl Dohn Jr. elected president of National Association of Surety Bond Producers. He has 37 years experience in the industry and started his surety career in 1973 at Safeco.
