Expands Dealers Open Lot program to include franchised new car, truck, motorcycle, recreational vehicles, implement and equipment dealers and large non-franchised operations. Available for inventory that is in liquidation/receivership.

Replaces AIG as sponsor of Manchester United Football Club in a four-year deal. Aon pays basic rights fee and tops it with commissions to the club from sale of policies to the club’s fan base (as well as other considerations). Manchester has broad brand appeal and a global following, including Asia, where Aon wants exposure. >> Warren Mula, chair of Aon Risk Services U.S. Retail, appointed to board of Spencer Educational Foundation, which supports the industry through grants and scholarships to students and universities for risk management and insurance studies.

Appoints Joe Bittner managing director of employee benefits in Austin, Texas. He previously led benefits brokerages at Brooks Bittner and Assoc. and AGP Middle Market Employee Benefits Division. Apex is expanding Austin operations.

Creative Benefit Solutions, based in Louisville, which has merged with Gallagher, will continue to operate in Louisville under its own name and retain its staff. >> Buys Nourse Insurance Brokers, retail p-c brokerage for personal and commercial lines in Walnut Creek, Calif. It specializes in high-net-worth clients and small to mid-sized biz. >> Also buys Sellers Group, an employee benefits brokerage with offices in Texas and Arkansas. >> John Caraher appointed by board as corporate v.p. Since 1995, he has served as CFO of employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.

Named one of San Diego’s best places to work based on anonymous employee survey results ranking firms on leadership, communication, work environment, training and development, benefits and pay, and other areas. Nearly all of the brokerage’s associates participated in the survey.

Buys Gail Steinberg & Co., an employee benefits group in New York City. It will relocate to Bollinger’s office in lower Manhattan. Steinberg will join Bollinger as senior v.p.

Acquires Irving Weber Associates on Long Island—a specialist in programs for the fabric care industry. >> Navigators Insurance will be the new carrier for Lawyer’s Protection Plan as of Nov. 1. >> American Specialty Insurance & Risk Services, a Brown & Brown subsidiary based in Indiana and specializing in sports, motorsports and recreation specialty insurance, promotes Drew Smith to chief marketing officer. >> Taffy Troup, senior v.p. of administration and operations of American Specialty Insurance & Risk Services, named “Insurance Professional of the Year” by the National Association of Insurance Women (International).

Keeps growing with latest purchase of Shenzhen Hongshengda, claims adjusting services provider for non-auto p-c insurance. >> Enters into first-of-its-kind agreement with p-c insurer Ping An to work as partners on product distribution, development of customized products and outsourcing of claims services. CNinsure looks to make similar deals with other insurers.

Creates centralized vehicle claims center and enhances appraiser network to speed claims processing. It is also building a credentialed service provider network of independent appraisers to supplement current staff.
