FEMA updates flood maps, increasing the number of properties listed in high-risk areas. The West Valley, Chandler, Gilbert and Scottsdale are some of the most populated areas hit by the upgraded flood risk. The maps are scheduled to take effect in the fall.



Researchers from universities and government agencies are placing dozens of seismometers beneath the earth’s surface across Georgia to learn more about what causes earthquakes and where they might occur. The USArray project will produce some “unprecedented high-resolution images.”



Andrew Stolfi appointed acting director of Department of Insurance. He was chief of staff and special counsel for policy and legislative affairs at the department, and he chairs the Corporate Governance Working Group. Before joining the department, he was a judicial law clerk and special assistant corporate counsel for the City of Chicago Law Department.
